Apex Legends Tier List

It's no secret that some hereos are better than others in Apex Legends. So naturally, we created this ultimate Apex Legends tier list.

Apex Legends, one of the most popular battle royale games in the world, has its stride with the latest release of its eighth season.

Titled Mayhem, Season 8 has introduced several game-changing mechanics, a weapon, and even a new legend. These changes keep the experience fun and interesting for new and veteran players.

One thing that hasn’t change from previous seasons is how bright the spotlight Apex shines on its playable characters (called Legends). Winning in Apex depends on the player’s skill and their expertise in using the different Legends available.

To help players with the new season, we’ve ranked the best and worst Legends to use in Apex Legends. This list will help you choose the Legend that will help you dominate in matches and earn that title of Apex Champion more often.

S-Tier

Apex Legends Tier List Tier S

These are the best Legends to use in pubs or ranked matches. They have extremely useful skills that are helpful in team fights or 1v1 situations.

Furthermore, they also have no noticeable flaws so there’s rarely any downside to using them.

LegendRoleAbilitiesDescription
HorizonOffensiveGravity Lift (Tactical)
Reverses the flow of gravity, lifting players upward and boosting them outward when they exit.

Spacewalk (Passive)
Increase air control and reduce fall impacts with Horizon’s custom spacesuit.

Black Hole (Ultimate)
Deploy N.E.W.T. to create a micro black hole that pulls players in towards it and hits them with a graviton blast at the end.
Despite being one of the newer Legends in the roster, Horizon is already a clear top-tier choice.

Her tactical ability is like a quicker combination of Wraith and Pathfinder’s ultimate abilities. She’s able to get herself and her team into high ground in a matter of seconds. This ability is useful in the Olympus and World’s Edge maps because of the numerous vertical spaces in those areas.

Her ultimate ability is great for ambushing an enemy team or pulling them out of cover. Throw it down, then throw some grenades on it for maximum effect.
WraithOffensiveInto the Void (Tactical)
Reposition quickly through the safety of the void, avoiding all damage. Able to see enemies while using this ability.

Voices from the Void (Passive)
A voice warns you when enemies are targeting you.

Low Profile (Passive)
You have a smaller hitbox but receive 5% more damage.

Dimensional Rift (Ultimate)
Link two locations with portals for 60 seconds, allowing anyone to use them.
Even with the nerf on her hitbox, Wraith is still an asset in team or 1v1 fights. Her tactical ability has a slow activation, but she can see enemies while in the void, which is extremely useful.

Her ultimate ability is effective at repositioning the whole squad late in the game. With a Revenant on the team, you’re able to use the Totem + Portal combo, which is good for pushing into enemy locations with minimal risk.
FuseOffensiveKnuckle Cluster (Tactical) Launch a cluster bomb that continuously expels airburst explosives on impact.   Grenadier (Passive) Stack an extra grenade per inventory slot. Fire grenades farther, faster, and more accurately.   The Motherlode (Ultimate) Launch a bombardment that encircles a target in a wall of flame.  Fuse has quickly shown that he belongs in the top tier of Apex Legends. He has overwhelming offensive power to flush out enemy teams behind cover. His ultimate ability charges quickly, allowing you to use it in almost every gunfight. The expanded inventory slot for grenades truly shines in ranked matches. The ability to bombard enemy teams with explosives makes for a truly confusing endgame. Because Fuse launches grenades instead of throwing them, he can also secure positions for his team even from far away. This makes rotations much easier because you don’t have to put yourself at much risk just to challenge enemy teams.
GibraltarDefensiveDome of Protection (Tactical)
Throw a dome-shield that blocks attacks for 12 seconds. Healing items are 15% faster and revives take 1 second less when in a dome.

Gun Shield (Passive)
Aiming down sights deploys a gun shield that blocks incoming fire.

Fortified (Passive)
Incoming damage reduced by 15%. Not slowed by heavy bullets.

Defensive Bombardment (Ultimate)
Call in a concentrated mortar strike on a marked position.
Utility and versatility are Gibraltar’s calling cards. His dome is great for controlling enemy ambushes or for relocating in the late game. His gun shield plus Fortified passive ability makes him the tankiest Legend in the game. As if all that is not enough, Gibraltar also has one of the most valuable ultimate abilities in the game.

Defensive Bombardment can halt enemy advances, push an enemy stronghold or off the high ground, and finish off downed enemies. The effect is bolstered in the new map, Olympus, where there are plenty of wide-open spaces.

The problem with Gibraltar is his huge hitbox. Against skilled players, being a big target is always a disadvantage no matter how much health you have.

A-Tier

Apex Legends Tier List Tier A

Units that are still core picks in ranked matches. They excel at holding their positions while also providing decent utility to any team.

Some of them are also clear counters to other Legends in the roster.

LegendRoleAbilities
BloodhoundReconEye of the Allfather (Tactical)
Briefly reveals enemies and traps through all structures in front of you.

Tracker (Passive)
Foes leave behind clues for you to find.

Beast of the Hunt (Ultimate)
Enhances your senses, allowing you to see tracks and move faster. Duration extended upon knockdown of an enemy.
LifelineSupportHeal Drone (Tactical)
Deploys a drone that heals nearby allies over time.

Combat Revive (Passive)
The drone can be used to revive knocked comrades, leaving Lifeline open to keep engaging the enemy or escape.

Low Profile (Passive)
You have a smaller hitbox but receive 5% more damage.

Care Package (Ultimate)
Call in a drop pod with a combination of 3 high-quality attachments, consumables, and/or gear.
CausticDefensiveNox Gas Trap (Tactical)
Drops canisters that release deadly Nox gas when shot or triggered by enemies.

Nox Vision (Passive)
Allows you to see enemies through Nox Gas.

Fortified (Passive)
Incoming damage reduced by 15%. Not slowed by heavy bullets.

Nox Gas Grenade (Ultimate)
Throw a grenade that blankets an area with nox gas.

B-Tier

Apex Legends Tier List Tier B

Legends that help round out your team. They have specialized use cases but can be devastating to the other teams when you set your team up properly.

LegendRoleAbilitiesDescription
CryptoReconSurveillance Drone (Tactical)
Deploys an aerial drone that can spot enemies.

Neurolink (Tactical)
You and your teammates can see what the Surveillance Drone detects.

Drone Emp (Ultimate)
The useful things Crypto’s drone can do is borderline overpowered. It can use beacons, retrieve squad banners, and respawn teammates with a click of a button.

Crypto’s ultimate instantly smashes through Wattson’s, Rampart’s, and Caustic’s defensive abilities. This makes the drone EMP a valuable resource especially in the late game when every squad has set up their defenses inside buildings.
RevenantOffensiveSilence (Tactical)
Throw a projectile that damages enemies and disables their abilities for 20 seconds.

Stalker (Passive)
You crouch walk faster and climb walls higher.

Death Totem (Ultimate)
Drop a totem that protects users from death. Instead of being knocked down, you will return to the totem.
The fact that Death Totem has unlimited range is a gamechanger. This means that squads with Revenant have even less risk to worry about when pushing enemy locations.

Even without his ultimate, Revenant is a very powerful Legend. His Silence is effective for preventing enemy offense or escapes during gunfights. His passive is one of the most underrated abilities in the game, allowing him to catch the enemy unaware, or gain high ground immediately.
BangaloreOffensiveSmoke Launcher (Tactical)
Fire a high-velocity smoke canister that explodes into a smoke wall on impact.

Double Time (Passive)
Taking fire while sprinting makes you move faster for a brief time.

Rolling Thunder (Ultimate)
Call in an artillery strike that slowly creeps across the landscape.
Bangalore has always been a solid Legend. Her passive ability is the best in the game, especially for relocating or resetting fights. Her smoke launcher, when paired with a Bloodhound teammate is an awesome engagement tool.

On her own, Bangalore doesn’t thrive if you are not extremely skilled. Her ultimate is only good when used defensively, and her smoke can sometimes disorient you too.
OctaneOffensiveStim (Tactical)
Increase walk speed by 30% and sprint speed by 40% for 6 seconds. Costs Health to use. Reduction to slows while active.
Swift Mend (Passive)
Automatically restores health over time.

Launch Pad (Ultimate)
Deploy a jump pad that catapults anyone through the air. Press the jump button to double jump.
Octane’s jump pads now have that much needed utility, even in ranked matches. They can launch you higher or farther depending on how you approach them. This buff effectively makes Octane a cross between Pathfinder and Horizon. With a quick cooldown, Octane’s ultimate ability is also less punishing to use (and quite spammable). In terms of mobility for you and your team, Octane is at the top of the list.

C-Tier

Apex Legends Tier List Tier C

Average Legends that have steadily been dropped by some players in ranked matches because of their lack of utility for winning team fights.

LegendRoleAbilitiesDescription
PathfinderReconGrappling Hook (Tactical)
Throws a grappling hook that will attach to the first solid object it hits (including players and ziplines) and pull you towards it.

Insider Knowledge (Passive)
Scanning a survey beacon to reduce the cooldown of your ultimate.

Low Profile (Passive)
You have a smaller hitbox but receive 5% more damage.

Zipline Gun (Ultimate)
Create a zipline for everyone to use.
Pathfinder was always an S-Tier legend before season 6. Then his Grapple ability got a massive cooldown nerf. In Season 8, it seems the developers have figured out the sweet spot for balancing this robot’s tactical ability.

He’s the worst legend to have Low Profile because his hitbox isn’t even that small compared to others.

Experienced players still utilize Pathfinder’s ziplines to relocate late in the game or to push high ground. His grapple is still effective in a pinch or when engaging enemies, but it isn’t as spammable as it once was.
WattsonDefensivePerimeter Security (Tactical)
Connect nodes to create electrified fences that damage and slow enemies. Maximum of 12 nodes.

Spark of Genius (Passive)
Ultimate Accelerants fully charge your Ultimate. Standing near interception pylons boosts your Tactical ability’s recharge rate.

Low Profile (Passive)
You have a smaller hitbox but receive 5% more damage.

Interception Pylon (Ultimate)
Place an electrified pylon that destroys incoming ordnance and repairs damaged shields for the next 90 seconds. Maximum of 3 pylons at a time.
Wattson is very effective at quickly securing a building for your squad with her fences and pylons. This defensive setup can also be used in open spaces (having high ground is better).

When Wattson’s defenses are set up, it becomes hard to push your team because opponents can’t throw grenades at you, or rush in.

In the previous seasons, Wattson was a top-tier Legend. Crypto’s increased usage in ranked matches now has effectively knocked Wattson down. One drone EMP and all of Wattson’s defenses are gone. With Fuse’s grenades becoming a part of the meta, it’s even more important to have a Wattson on your team in tight ranked matches.

D-Tier

Apex Legends Tier List Tier D

These two are fun to play in public matches, but they are at a disadvantage in ranked, especially at higher levels.

LegendRoleAbilitiesDescription
RampartDefensiveAmped Cover (Tactical)
Build a crouch-cover wall, which deploys a full-cover amped wall that blocks incoming shots and increases the damage of outgoing shots. Maximum of 5 at a time.

Modded Loader (Passive)
Increased magazine/heat capacity and faster reloads/recharge when using LMGs and the Minigun.

Emplaced Minigun ”Sheila” (Ultimate)
Place a mounted machine gun that anyone can use. High ammo capacity, long reload time. Maximum of 3 at a time.
Rampart fits right into the current “Energy weapons” meta with her passive ability.

Amped cover and Sheila work perfectly provided you take the time to set them up.

Rampart’s abilities are perfect for gatekeeping enemy teams caught in the closing ring. In higher ranked matches, the pace is fast, leaving Rampart no time to set up her walls and miniguns.
LobaSupportBurglar’s Best Friend (Tactical)
Teleport to hard-to-reach places or escape trouble by throwing your jump drive bracelet.

Eye for Quality (Passive)
Nearby epic and legendary loot can be seen through walls.

Black Market Boutique (Ultimate)
Place a portable device that allows you to teleport nearby loot to your inventory. Each friendly or enemy Legend can take up to two items
There was much hype surrounding Loba’s release in season 5, but that quickly dissipated as the player base played more of her.

Her tactical ability’s animation is so slow, that you can’t utilize it as an ambush nor an escape tool. Her passive isn’t useful because you’re going to be opening bins at a fast pace anyway.

On the plus side, her ultimate ability has been buffed. It now allows infinite grabs of any type of ammo – which is a relief in ranked matches when the circle is closing in and your party just fought off that 4th 3rd-party in a row.

F-Tier

Apex Legends Tier List Tier F

The worst Legend that needs serious buffs if the developers want the players to keep using them.

LegendRoleAbilitiesDescription
MirageOffensivePsyche Out (Tactical)
Send out a holographic decoy to confuse the enemy. You can control the decoy.

Now You See Me… (Passive)
Automatically cloak when using Respawn Beacons and reviving teammates.

Life of the Party (Ultimate)
Mirage deploys a team of controllable decoys to distract enemies.
When Mirage’s tactical and ultimate got buffed, everybody thought he was going to stay in S-Tier and bamboozle everyone. The problem is that veteran players rarely get faked out by Mirage’s tricks. This effectively nullifies Mirage’s abilities in high-level ranked matches.

On the plus side, Mirage’s cloak when using a respawn beacon is one of the most useful abilities in the game.

Tier List Methodology

It’s important to note that the advantages of characters between tiers become smaller as more player skill is involved in the equation.

This means that the best players can play good games even when using F-Tiers. In ranked matches, however, there is a big emphasis on team composition and late-game positioning.

The Legends in this tier list are judged with ranked matches in mind. They were also ranked in terms of how the game is currently played: quick repositions while utilizing high ground and defensive structures late in the match.
