Here's a guide on how to catch and evolve Eevee in Pokémon Sword and Shield. Evolve your Eevee to a Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Leafeon, Glaceon, Espeon, Umbreon or a Sylveon!

Although Pikachu may be the most recognizable Pokémon, Eevee holds the title for the most popular and highly sought Pokémon in the series due to its sheer number of evolutions, known as “Eeveelutions.”

Eevee can evolve into eight different types of Pokémon, and the methods for getting each one varies from game to game.

In this guide, we’ll show you how to get every Eevee evolution as well as offer tips for catching and breeding Eevee for competitive battling.

Where To Catch Eevee

Where To Catch Eevee

To find a wild Eevee, travel to Route 4 during day or night. Level 14-16 Eevee can be found in the tall yellow grass surrounding the area at a rate of 1% (Sword) and 5% (Shield). Due to Eevee’s low spawn rate, it may take a couple of tries before you encounter one in battle.

Evolving Eevee into one of its many evolutions is relatively straight-forward. However, the steps you’ll need to take are different for each and typically involve using an evolution stone. Here, we’ll be breaking down the methods for obtaining every Eeveelution:

Umbreon

How To Breed Eevee

How To Breed Eevee

If you’ve got your heart set on a shiny Eevee or want them to have a certain ability, move, or nature, your best bet to breed your own using the Pokémon Daycares located on Route 5 and in the Wild Area.

To do this, drop off your Eevee with another one belonging to the opposite gender or a Ditto and walk around until they make an egg. If either Pokémon has the desired nature you wish to pass on, have that one hold an Everstone prior to placing them in the Daycare.

Depending on which ability you want your Eeveelution to have, you’ll either want to use an Eevee with the ability Run Away/Adaptability or Anticipation (Hidden).  Breeding with a Pokémon who has a hidden ability will increase your chances of passing that ability down.
