Serving as the third installment in the popular tactical RTS series, Company of Heroes 3 pits players against the harsh realities of WWII.

This time around, the campaign is set to focus on increasing tensions between Italy and North Africa, with players acting as generals and leading their armies into battle.

To succeed, you’ll have to devise new strategies that will overwhelm your opponents and make full use of your ground, air, and naval units.

Company of Heroes 3 introduces a new Dynamic Campaign Map that will introduce randomized elements to keep players on their toes in addition to challenging online multiplayer battling.

For those unfamiliar, The Forest is an ambitious survival horror game that focuses on crafting and combat with surprisingly intelligent enemy AI.

Like many survival games, the story is fairly nonlinear but there was always enough to chew on for players interested in learning about the game’s creatures and setting.

For the sequel, developer Endnight Games looks to be expanding the universe with new characters and events revolving around yet another mysterious island.

Along with better graphics and more fluid combat, Sons of the Forest will emphasize team-driven gameplay that supports online multiplayer.

Blood Bowl has never shied away from doing its own thing, blending turn-based strategy, Warhammer lore, and American football into a neat little package.

While among the more niche titles coming to Xbox, Blood Bowl 3 includes a number of improvements and new features that fans of the series will appreciate.

For one, gameplay adheres to the official rules of the latest edition of the board game, complete with new skills and redesigned passing mechanics.

There’s also a new competitive PVP mode that offers new league management tools and a solo campaign open to all 12 included races, with room for customization.

The critically-acclaimed space-flight simulator Kerbal Space Program will be receiving a sequel at some point in 2022.

This is after having development shifted from studio Star Theory to a new in-house team at Private Division, an indie publisher under Take-Two Interactive.

KSP2 looks to introduce a wealth of content and requested features, including more spacecraft parts, colony building, graphical improvements, online multiplayer, and upgraded modding tools.

A follow-up to the hit Square Enix RPG Octopath Traveler is also anticipated to release at the tail end of February.

Centering on a new cast and setting separate from its predecessor, Octopath Traveler II will see players moving between eight separate characters.

Each one has its own storyline, playstyle, and rewards to uncover by completing their respective path action.

This ties in nicely with the sequel’s new day and night segments allowing you to play out each character’s story in different ways.

Each day brings us one step closer to the release date of Nintendo’s follow-up to the unforgettable adventure that was Breath of the Wild.

Officially titled The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the sequel will see Link exploring both land and sky portions of Hyrule with new powers.

This includes expanded object stasis manipulation and teleportation abilities that should make traversal even more delightful.

At one point in the trailer, we can see Link riding on a stone bird and skydiving down to the now-familiar Hyrule open world.

The next entry in the Street Fighter franchise is slated for a June release and looks to be injecting new life into the legendary fighter.

This includes an expanded roster of fighters like Luke and Lily alongside classic characters like Ryu and Chun-Li.

All have received a new design that pairs nicely with Street Fighter 6‘s new bold and colorful graffiti-inspired art style.

On the combat side of things, the game introduces a new Drive Gauge system designed to spark player creativity when stringing together combos.

It’s been a long road for Diablo 4 so we’re eager to see what Blizzard has to offer after a string of controversial releases from the company.

Maintaining the dungeon-crawling identity of its predecessors, the game sees you navigating through procedurally generated maps in pursuit of loot.

Along the way, you’ll battle formidable foes using five playable classes that have appeared in previous Diablo games.

Diablo 4 marks the return of PvP battling alongside new quests, combat mechanics, and open-world environments.

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games are known for getting nitty-gritty with their approach to post-apocalyptic open worlds.

While they’ve always been reminiscent of games like Metro and even Fallout RPGs to some extent, the series suddenly disappeared after just three releases.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will see players venturing into “The Zone,” an irradiated wasteland surrounding the Chernobyl nuclear disaster site.

The area stands out for its high radiation levels, which causes scavengers to develop supernatural abilities that affect traversal and combat.

Serving as a follow-up to 2017’s Super Bomberman R, Super Bomberman R 2 offers even more action-maze mayhem based on the iconic Konami franchise.

The sequel is set to feature an expanded story mode alongside a new “Castle” multiplayer battle mode.

Here, players will team up to build castle defenses while opponents strategize to find the best plan of attack.

How much new content is included with SBR2 is yet to be seen but the trailer boasts an “incredible amount” that’s sure to “blow your mind,” so we’ll have to wait and see.

Following an official announcement by Nintendo, Pikmin 4 is confirmed as nearing completion and will soon grace our Switch screens.

Building off of previous games in the series, the game has you controlling a tiny astronaut leader tasked with commanding colorful Pikmin creatures.

Working together, you’ll solve puzzles, defeat enemies, and gather resources to expand your Pikmin army with new variants.

New to Pikmin 4 is the ability to deploy Pikmin and view the game’s world from a ground-level perspective.

Homeworld rose to fame in the later 1990s to early 2000s before losing popularity following the release of Homeworld 2 in 2003.

While both the original and its sequel were eventually remastered, fans have been craving a third game for quite some time now.

First announced back in 2019, Homeworld 3 carries on the franchise’s sci-fi legacy by combining tactical combat and RPG mechanics in one cosmic package.

The game looks to offer an expansive campaign that revisits many of the core features that made the original two Homeworld games so satisfying to play.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II was announced during the Game Awards 2019 following the reveal of the Xbox Series X’s name and design.

The sequel sees Ninja Theory back at the helm for a much more thematically dark and atmospheric game, which is saying a lot for anyone who played the original.

The announcement trailer doesn’t give away too much besides confirming the game will be coming to both Series X and PC.

Now that Remedy has fully acquired the rights to Alan Wake from Microsoft, we can anticipate a follow-up to one of the studio’s most defining titles.

Officially announced during The Game Awards 2021, Alan Wake 2 will run on Remedy’s proprietary Northlight Engine and serve as a survival horror experience.

It’s been confirmed that players will not need to have played the previous games in order to under the plot and gameplay will retain a third-person POV.

On the casting side of things, Alan Wake 2 will see the return of Ilkka Villi and Matthew Porretta as the appearance and voice of Alan, respectively.

Sidebar Games’ Golf Story was one of the best indie sleeper hits of 2017, telling an uplifting story of a down-on-his-luck golfer who manages to turn his life around by going back to his childhood love of golf.

The studio is back with a sequel, this time expanding its efforts to include a wider variety of sports-based activities and mini-games.

Scheduled to release later this year, Sports Story maintains the 2D presentation of its predecessor while introducing new characters and locations.

This includes a renowned tennis academy where your character will train and a prestigious castle where you’ll get to meet the queen.

A third entry in the zombie survival horror series State of Decay is currently in development for Xbox Series X and PC.

State of Decay 3 intends to offer the ‘ultimate’ zombie survival simulation, and judging by the announcement trailer, Undead Labs is off to a great start. 

Fans can look forward to battling even more undead humans along with a new contestant: brain-eating zombie deer.

We anticipate the game’s graphics will significantly benefit from the next-gen hardware and overall shorter load times.

Considering Frostpunk was a massive hit for 11-bit Studios, it was only a matter of time until we got a sequel to the city builder survival game.

Set 30 years after the apocalyptic blizzard that thrust humanity into hardship, Frostpunk 2 sees you playing as the leader of a new metropolis on the brink of collapse.

In order to keep your population alive, you’ll have to hunt down a new source of power in the form of oil while navigating political divisions within your community.

Much like the original, players can expect to have to make tough sacrifices along the way all for the sake of providing humanity with a better future.

Team Cherry has been suspiciously quiet about their upcoming follow-up to the beloved Metroidvania Hollow Knight, leading us to believe they’re still hard at work on the sequel.

While we already know Hollow Knight: Silksong will retain many of the original’s core gameplay elements, it will be using them in slightly different ways.

For one, players will be controlling Hornet, a curious bug-like creature who uses a needle to fight, as she gets captured and taken to a new mysterious haunted kingdom.

Players will have to escape the kingdom by making their way upwards instead of downwards like in the first game, encountering over 150 new creatures along the way.

Oxenfree is a phenomenal 2D indie horror game that revels in its story-driven gameplay, so naturally, fans were hoping Night School would eventually release a follow-up.

In Oxenfree II: Lost Signals, players follow Riley as she returns to her hometown of Camena to investigate yet another source of mysterious radio signals.

Anyone who’s played the original can safely predict she’ll end up finding more than she bargained for and have to investigate Camena for clues to explain what’s going on.

The sequel will leverage dialogue-driven choices that shape the story and Riley’s connections with other characters, this time via a walkie-talkie chat system.

Despite being one of the most anticipated Switch releases, news concerning Metroid Prime 4 has been scarce ever since the game was announced at E3 2017.

Last we heard, the game’s production was being restarted after Nintendo decided to switch to a different developer, Retro Studios.

We also know that veteran Metroid Prime producer Kensuke Tanabe is leading the project, which definitely bodes well for Prime 4’s quality.

The Prime subseries is known for taking the classic Metroid formula in new directions with its first-person POV and robust combat mechanics. 

Insomniac is hard at work on a direct sequel to 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man that will come exclusively to PS5.

Little is currently known regarding the story or new gameplay elements but we can confirm that both Peter Parker and Miles Morales will be reprising their roles as Spider-Man, or is it Spider-Men?

Additionally, Kraven the Hunter, Venom, and likely a host of other recognizable Marvel villains will be making an appearance.

Much like the original PS4 exclusive, we anticipate Spider-Man 2 will fully utilize the PS5 hardware to allow for faster load times, smoother performance, and more detailed environments.
