Kazuha Build Guide For Genshin Impact

Learn how to be excellent support as Kazuha in Genshin Impact with this ultimate Kazuha build guide. Everything you need to know is all in this guide.

Kazuha is a 5*Anemo Sword character who’s widely regarded as the best Support for buffing Elemental DMG.

The soft-spoken ronin also provides loads of crowd control and is as useful for open-world exploration as he is in combat.

In many ways, Kazuha is essential for unlocking the DMG potential of any DPS character who relies on Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo DMG, as he can not only increase their Elemental DMG Bonus, but also reduce the enemies’ Resistance for the same Element.

In this Kazuha build guide, we’ll show you everything you need to know in order to maximize the effectiveness of your Kazuha. This includes:

  • Talent prioritization
  • Constellations
  • Weapon options
  • Artifact set bonuses
  • Best teammates

Kazuha’s Talent Priority

Genshin Impact Weapon Tier List
TalentDescriptionPriority
Normal Attack
(Garyuu Bladework)
Normal Attack
Perform up to 5 rapid strikes.

Charged Attack
Consumes a certain amount of Stamina to unleash 2 rapid sword strikes.

Plunging Attack
Plunges from mid-air to strike the ground below, damaging opponents along the path and dealing AoE DMG upon impact. If this Plunging Attack is triggered by Chihayaburu, it will be converted to Plunging Attack: Midare Ranzan.

Plunging Attack: Midare Ranzan
When a Plunging Attack is performed using the effects of the Elemental Skill Chihayaburu, Plunging Attack DMG is converted to Anemo DMG and will create a small wind tunnel via a secret blade technique that pulls in nearby objects and opponents.
Kazuha draws all of his effectiveness from his Elemental Skill and Burst. We’d say you can leave his Normal Attack unlevelled, but his unique Plunging Attack DMG scales with this talent. And you’ll be doing this Plunging Attack a lot. So it’s worth leveling up at least to level 6.

In any case, this is easily Kazuha’s least important talent.
Elemental Skill
(Chihayaburu)
Unleashes a secret technique as fierce as the rushing wind that pulls objects and opponents towards Kazuha’s current position before launching opponents within the AoE, dealing Anemo DMG and lifting Kazuha into the air on a rushing gust of wind. Within 10s of remaining airborne after casting Chihayaburu, Kazuha can unleash a powerful Plunging Attack known as Midare Ranzan.

Press
Can be used in mid-air.

Hold
Charges up before unleashing greater Anemo DMG over a larger AoE than Press Mode.

Plunging Attack: Midare Ranzan
When a Plunging Attack is performed using the effects of the Elemental Skill Chihayaburu, Plunging Attack DMG is converted to Anemo DMG. On landing, Kazuha creates a small wind tunnel via a secret blade technique that pulls in nearby objects and opponents. Midare Ranzan’s DMG is considered Plunging Attack DMG.
Kazuha’s Elemental Skill is a great source of Crowd Control and DMG that can also be used to avoid attacks by launching Kazuha into the air. It’s also handy for triggering the Viridescent Venerer set bonus.

This is Kazuha’s second-priority talent.
Elemental Burst
(Kazuha Slash)
The signature technique of Kazuha’s self-styled bladework — a single slash that strikes with the force of the first winds of autumn, dealing AoE Anemo DMG.
The blade’s passage will leave behind a field named “Autumn Whirlwind” that periodically deals AoE Anemo DMG to opponents within its range.

Elemental Absorption
If Autumn Whirlwind comes into contact with Hydro/Pyro/Cryo/Electro, it will deal additional elemental DMG of that type.
Elemental Absorption may only occur once per use.
Kazuha’s Elemental Burst deals DMG over time within a large AoE. Best of all, you can manipulate which Element the DMG will do, allowing you to set up various Elemental Reactions.

This is Kazuha’s highest priority talent.

Kazuha’s Passive Talents

Genshin Impact Kazuha Passive Talents
Talent NameDescriptionEvaluation
Cloud StriderDecreases sprinting Stamina consumption for your own party members by 20%. Not stackable with Passive Talents that provide the exact same effects. This is an incredible passive talent that is always useful, both in combat and during exploration.
Soumon SwordsmanshipIf Chihayaburu comes into contact with Hydro/Pyro/Cryo/Electro when cast, Chihayaburu will absorb that element and if Plunging Attack: Midare Ranzan is used before the effect expires, it will deal an additional 200% ATK of the absorbed elemental type as DMG. This will be considered Plunging Attack DMG. Elemental Absorption may only occur once per use of Chihayaburu. This is yet another incredible passive talent, increasing the DMG of Kazuha’s Elemental Skill and allowing him to use various Elements.
Poetics of FuubutsuUpon triggering a Swirl reaction, Kaedehara Kazuha will grant all party members a 0.04% Elemental DMG Bonus to the element absorbed by Swirl for every point of Elemental Mastery he has for 8s. Bonuses for different elements obtained through this method can co-exist.This is easily the most incredible passive talent Kazuha has, allowing him to greatly increase the Elemental DMG of his teammates.
Kazuha wouldn’t be nearly as great as he is if not for this passive talent.

What’s amazing about Kazuha’s kit is how simple yet versatile it is.

His crowd control may not have as high a ceiling as Venti’s, but it’s more convenient to use because it doesn’t rely on Genshin’s notoriously bad auto-targeting.

And his last passive talent—the one that buffs Elemental DMG Bonus by a ton for other characters—triggers whenever the Viridescent Venerer set bonus triggers. So you don’t have to go out of your way to get the most out of Kazuha.

If you wanted to go above and beyond, you could even utilize Kazuha’s ability to deal non-Anemo Elemental DMG to your advantage. For example, with the right setup, Kazuha can deal a ton of Cryo DMG, all of which can get buffed by Shenhe’s abilities, just as if he were a Cryo character.

The only units that don’t benefit from Kazuha are Geo and Anemo characters (like Itto and Xiao), as well as characters who rely on Physical DMG regardless of their Element (like Eula).

This is what makes Kazuha so amazing—he’s great at buffing 4 of the 7 Elements in the game and will only get better as more characters get added into the game.

Kazuha’s Constellations

Genshin Impact Kazuha Constellations
Constellation NameDescriptionEvaluation
Scarlet HillsDecreases Chihayaburu’s CD by 10%. Using Kazuha Slash resets the CD of Chihayaburu.Kazuha’s C1 increases his crowd control capabilities and makes it easier for him to Swirl multiple Elements.
But it also requires him to stay on field longer to cycle through the extra Elemental Skill uses.
So his C1 is cool, but not amazing in optimized teams.
Yamaarashi TailwindThe Autumn Whirlwind field created by Kazuha Slash has the following effects:
Increases Kaedehara Kazuha’s own Elemental Mastery by 200 for its duration.
Increases the Elemental Mastery of characters within the field by 200. The Elemental Mastery-increasing effects of this Constellation do not stack.
C2 is Kazuha’s best constellation.
It not only increases Kazuha’s Swirl DMG, but also increases the Elemental Reaction DMG for other characters in the team.
Maple MonogatariIncreases the Level of Chihayaburu by 3.
Maximum upgrade level is 15.
C3 is okay.
It buffs Kazuha’s Skill DMG. This DMG shouldn’t be underestimated, but it’s hardly Kazuha’s main asset.
Oozora GenpouWhen Kaedehara Kazuha’s Energy is lower than 45, he obtains the following effects:
Pressing or
Holding Chihayaburu regenerates 3 or 4 Energy for Kaedehara Kazuha, respectively.
When gliding, Kaedehara Kazuha regenerates 2 Energy per second.
C4 gets worse the better your team is.
It’s a quality-of-life feature, but not a necessary one.
With proper itemization and team rotation, Kazuha will always have his Burst ready, rendering this constellation useless.
Wisdom of BanseiIncreases the Level of Kazuha Slash by 3.
Maximum upgrade level is 15.
C5 is okay.
As with C3, this increases his DMG, but non-Swirl DMG is the least important part of Kazuha’s kit.
Crimson MomijiAfter using Chihayaburu or Kazuha Slash, Kaedehara Kazuha gains an Anemo Infusion for 5s.
Additionally, each point of Elemental Mastery will increase the DMG dealt by Kaedehara Kazuha’s Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attacks by 0.2%.
C6 is not meta—it doesn’t make Kazuha a better Support. It makes him a fun-to-play and serviceable main DPS.
It’s a nice change of pace, but not worth the investment.

The great thing about Kazuha is that he’s amazing even at C0.

Nothing is lacking in his kit that constellations would have to fix.

The only constellation worth pursuing is C2, which makes him an even better Support in Reaction teams.

However, you definitely don’t need C2 to make Kazuha viable.

He’s an S-Tier Support even at C0.

Best Weapons For Kazuha

Genshin Impact Weapon
Weapon RarityExplanation
Freedom-Sworn
5*
Freedom-Sworn is Kazuha’s BiS 5* weapon.
It gives a ton of Elemental Mastery which increases his Swirl DMG. But more importantly, Kazuha can effortlessly trigger the weapon’s passive which provides even more powerful buffs for the team.
Iron Sting
4*
The craftable Iron Sting is an amazing F2P 4* weapon for Kazuha. Kazuha’s most important stat is Elemental Mastery, so the substat helps out a ton.
But the passive is also useful, providing Kazuha with a sizeable DMG buff even at r1.
Favonius Sword
4*
Favonius Sword is another amazing 4* weapon for Kazuha. Not only does it smooth out Kazuha’s rotation by ensuring he always has enough Energy to cast his Burst, but it also generates extra Energy for the rest of the team.

Best Artifacts For Kazuha – 4-Viridescent Venerer

Best Artifacts For Each Character In Genshin Impact

Kazuha’s defining characteristic is his ability to increase the Elemental DMG Bonus for Elements he Swirls. Therefore, the best artifact set bonus you could give him is the 4-piece Viridescent Venerer, which will reduce the enemies’ Resistance to those Elements at the same time.

In terms of artifact main stats, Kazuha wants Elemental Mastery. We’re talking:

  • Elemental Mastery on the Sands
  • Elemental Mastery on the Goblet
  • Elemental Mastery on the Logos

You could also give him Energy Recharge on the Sands if he has Energy issues. But, ideally, you should cover this with his substats, since he doesn’t ask for a lot.

His most desired substats are:

  • Elemental Mastery
  • Energy Recharge
  • ATK%
  • CRIT Rate (for triggering the Favonius Sword passive only)

The reason Kazuha doesn’t care about CRIT stats beyond what he’d need to trigger the Favonius Sword passive is because Swirl can’t CRIT. And Kazuha’s entire kit is based around triggering Swirl Reactions.

Best Team Composition For Kazuha

Genshin Impact Kazuha Team Composition

Kazuha is such a versatile character and he fits into so many different team compositions that it’s hard for us to settle on which teams to feature.

So, instead of going more in-depth on how several of his teams function, we’ll instead explain how Kazuha should be played in general, and then provide several amazing F2P and Whale teams in which he excels.

  1. Pair Kazuha with a DPS character who relies on Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo DMG.
  2. Apply the Element you want to buff onto an Enemy.
  3. Swirl this Element.

That’s really all there is to it.

With time, you can pick up some advanced techniques, such as Swirling two Elements at the same time or using his Burst to provide more Element application.

Free-to-Play Kazuha Teams

F2P Pyro Kazuha

This team uses Kazuha to buff Pyro DMG. Kaeya (or Rosaria) is here to trigger the occasional Melt Reaction, but raw Pyro DMG and Swirls are the name of the game here.

F2P Electro-Charged Kazuha

This team uses Kazuha to buff both Electro and Hydro DMG and relies on a constant output of Electro-Charged Reactions to destroy enemies. If you find that this team lacks a healer, you can replace either Fischl or Beidou with Kuki Shinobu.

F2P Diluc Vaporize

  • Kazuha
  • Diluc
  • Bennett
  • Xingqiu

While not a 4* unit, Diluc is a character that many F2P players have. It’s true that he has fallen off in terms of DMG since the early days of Genshin, but Diluc can still hit like a truck with this team supporting him.

Whale Kazuha Teams

Raiden Hypercarry Team

This team uses Kazuha—as well as other Supports—to turn Raiden Shogun into a one-man army. The more Electro characters you use, the more mileage you’ll get from Kazuha’s buffs and debuffs.

Morgana Kazuha Team

The so-called Morgana team—comprised of the Venti, Ganyu, and Mona tri-core—has been one of the most powerful meta teams in Genshin Impact for well over a year. While Kazuha doesn’t have as much synergy with Ganyu as Venti does, his crowd control is preferable when facing enemies who can’t be sucked into Venti’s tornado or Frozen.

Is Kazuha Worth It?

Kazuha sits comfortably near the top of our Genshin Impact Tier List.

He has held this place ever since he was added to the game.

And honestly, we don’t see him getting demoted anytime soon.

He’s just too powerful and we don’t see how the developers could nerf him without nerfing the entire Anemo character roster as collateral DMG.

So long as there are Pyro, Hydro, Electro, and Cryo DPS characters in the game, Kazuha will remain one of the best characters in Genshin Impact.
